The Storms of Spring

About this artwork

In this scene from the American Wild West, a woman in a dress watches a violent storm as it rolls over the grassy plains sending lightning forking to the ground. Next to her stands her animal companion: an appaloosa coated horse. It appears there's more to their story. The woman holds a rifle while the horse wears Native American war paint. Strong winds blow through the mane and tail of the Indian pony as well as the woman's long hair adding a sense of unease to the image.

From the artist: It's spring in the Atlanta area, and that means storms, though this year (2023) has been a bit quieter weather-wise than usual. We've still had a few thunderstorms roll through each week. Naturally, it got me in the mood to create a stormy scene.
